    Evenin' lovelies

Would start with greetings and whatnot, but that's boring. The name's James Moriarty. Not to be mistaken by the other James Moriarty. Don't ask why we 'ave the same name. Parents never were the 'creative name-giving' type, let's say.

If you have seen my toad of an older brother, do inform 'im of my arrival. Should be a nice surprise.
Would like to meet that mutt of 'is too. Heard he's a good shot. There's somethin' we have in common already.

Let me not forget Mr. Holmes; I've heard the stories, but I'd prefer to 'ear them from you instead. Would make them much more intriguing, don't you think?

Dogs are soft and domesticated Colonel. And I ain't either'a them things. But considerin' ya seem ta share more'n abit in common with me maybe I'll overlook the slight. Good ta see another military man, we oughta have a drink. I'm dyin ta hear stories about your dear big brother when he was a kid.

Oh, whoops, I think I've wandered in on trouble. Yes, these two fit the description of the sort of trouble that John mentioned.

Ahh, wonderful. I've been looking forward to meeting the rest of the family. Another Moriarty to play with, what a delight.

Not all dogs, mind you. I believe you're well trained though, Colonel. Then again, it's understandable. James wouldn't want his pet running off its leash. Never was one to share either, but a drink sounds arrangeable if 'e stays out of things.

Wouldn't want to get involved if I were you, Miss Morstan. Or do you prefer Mrs Watson by any chance?

And there's the man I'm lookin'. What do you say to a chat over some tea? You don't look the drinkin' type, which is a shame.

Tea would be fine, thanks. You're right, I don't drink much.

And no need to bring your rifle.

Why not? Feelin' a little edgy, are we? You're only makin' it more of a temptation, Holmes.
Wouldn't dream of aiming her at that skull of yours. Would be a waste of a bullet.

You're even more charming than your brother. Please don't make the mistake of thinking I am afraid of you.

Just for the record, I'm also the better lookin' one.
I didn't say you were afraid of me; just edgy. Nerves, I daresay.

Don' gotta worry 'bout the leash Colonel, good pets don' get chained up. An' your brother knows loyal when he sees it. An' no, sharin' ain't exactly his strong suit but I think we can manage abit'a one on one over a drink. That is, assumin ya ain't otherwise occupied with Curly there. Don' underestimate 'im, ya might want that rifle just the same.

    Don't get nervous my arse.

And I don't need my rifle, not with this one. He's no threat. Not yet, it would seem, though I do doubt you'd go out of your way to harm me, Holmes. I'm no danger to you unless you make me one.

I don't go out of my way to harm anyone, unlike some people round here.

Referring to my brother, are you? Just be grateful you didn't grow up with him. I'm sure your own wasn't even half as bad.

I'm not sure I'd be overly fond of the idea.
James is an insufferable bastard, but I would not hand him over that easily, Holmes.

Mary understood that she was not in immediate danger and responded to civilly, if a little warily, to the man's question "Miss Morstan, thank you."

She felt a sense of relief wash over her however as Sherlock made his appearance. It was quite an alarming conversation developing around her and she hoped that it wouldn't become a fist fight although she wouldn't hesitate to jump in to defend her fiance's best friend.
