    Nothing ever happens to me

Post by DoctorRedPants on Sat Mar 16, 2013 3:50 pm

Well, hi. As you might have guessed from my profile, my name is John Watson. I'm an ex-Army doctor. I...I'm not quite sure what I'm doing here. Molly told me this website would help me. See, my flatmate and dear friend, Sherlock Holmes passed away 2 months ago and...I haven't been doing so well. This is probably the most I've been awake for the past two months. I'm not sure if this is the right place to be or if I'll be coming back but I thought I'd give this a try.

So there you have it. Doctor John Watson. Mourning his friend's death for two months now. Quite convinced that he's still alive but I can't prove it. Anyway, that's all I have to say for now.

    Good day.

    Dear John,

I know you don't understand what happened. I tried to tell you in my note. You've always been quick to read subtext but the one time I was counting on you to read it you were too distracted by emotions and I should have known that you would be. There was no other way though.

It's all gone wrong and we are stuck with it. I know I'll throw this letter on the fire. That you'll never see it. I don't know why I write them at all. So many things left unsaid, John. I never said that I admired your nerves of steel perhaps as much as you liked my meretricious little deductions.

You were always loyal and trusted me and I hope to come back, or send for you, to prove that you were right to do so. I am trying to take care of you and asked Molly, to keep an eye on you. My brother promised to keep a discreet eye on you too. I have moved around so I have had no word from my brother but hope to find out how you are as soon as I do.

    ********

Sherlock left the unfinished note to John on the table to answer his phone hoping to hear from Mycroft.

But it's nice to meet you.. ME? Arrgh, this uppy downy pole thing.... Welcome to the forum. Needless to say I know...would know?? how you both feel about Sherlock. I'd... I am??? be destroyed if mine did that. I can't live without him. He is my best friend but he's always been more than that. And he wouldn't know it if it slapped him upside the head.

Oh my gosh, you really ARE me... I signed almost all of my letters to Sherlock "yours truly". Though, TRULY I never was. I never have been, and I never will be. If you'd like, I could play with you. ...Why are there so many of us???

I know how you feel... And maybe you're right. I may not belong to him, he doesn't belong to me. But I am always his, always. Yeah, the only thing he ever sees me as is his "assistant" and that means doing whatever HE feels like because he's so goddamn lazy and leaves ME with the boring stuff, having to put up with all the insults and put-downs and beratings without breathing a word of how I feel, and being there 24-7 even though he doesn't need me.

It's so weird, when I go out he gets so mad and interrupts whatever I'm doing. But then when he's actually succeeded it's all "Lestrade found this" or "Oh yeah and I need your phone" and other completely pointless stuff, you wonder why he did all that. Then he winds up telling me I'm useless and stupid and he doesn't need me and all that jazz. I daresay yours does the same with you.

He does the same. But I realized that he's just lonely and wants me there. I'm probably the only real friend he ever had. And I'm quite honored.

I, err... I... Never thought... Maybe you're right... I mean, I... Oof. Sherlock's right. Emotions just cause so much confusion... You never know... I know how I feel but how does he feel? I thought I knew for sure. He's made it so clear, said it so many times. And yet, I wonder... if I could be the most wrong I've ever been. If he could...

No, but... it's more complicated than that. I LOVE him. He doesn't love, the only one he's ever loved is Irene Adler. And if I tell him... I'm so afraid... But what you said-- And what he's said a few times, a while ago and... Could he... Does he... Reciprocate?

As distasteful as this subject may be to certain peoples, one must conceed that there are... an amount of emotions involved. But I desist. These... feelings... are too messy for us to involve ourselves in. I hear the best thing is conversation. MH. p.s - Any injury - emotional or otherwise - caused to the concerned persons will result in immediate death, or perhaps simply imprisonment. Consider carefully.
