"Your boy is a menace! I cannot take it here any longer. I quit!" A woman in her mid 30s shouted at Mrs. Holmes as she stormed out of the office. Mrs. Holmes sat there speechless for only a moment longer before picking up her phone and buzzing the housekeeper. "Ms. Hudson? Can you please be a dear and bring up Sherlock. Oh and Ms. Hudson. Do it old school would you?" She asked with a smile hanging up. A few minuets later she smirked hearing the hurried footsteps.

"Ow ow ow ow ow!" Sherlock hissed as he was being dragged into his mothers office by his right ear. Ms. Hudson lead him right up to Mrs. Holmes' desk. "Thank you Ms. Hudson for escorting him up. Say thank you Sherlock."

Sherlock glowered. "Thank you, Nanny" Mrs. Holmes merely shook her head at her son's nickname of their long time housekeeper and family friend Ms. Hudson. She turned to her son and smiled. It was a scary sight on a beautiful petite woman. "Do you know why you're here Sherlock?"

Sherlock looked at her a moment and inhaled taking a deep breath about to tell his mother exactly why he was here when she held up her hand for silence. "Save it." She said the smile sliding away and a frown took its place. Damn he hated when she did that. "Sherlock that is the third tutor this week. I know I am the only parent that must have 30 different tutors on standby for a single month because said pupil always seems to hash our their personal business and make them run out. Honestly how are you ever going to become a scientist or a philosopher if you keep chasing away your tutors." She scolded

"Oh I changed my mind. I don't want to be either of those to dull. I want to be a detective. A consulting detective to be exact."

"Dear that's not even a real occupation."

    "I know."

She was silent for a moment before she sighed shaking her head. Her children never ceased to amaze her. She could only imagine if she had had a girl. "Well then. Since you obviously don't need tutors I shall cancel the remainder of your sessions" She said. Sherlock's eyes narrowed "What's the catch?" She grinned "Your coming up to the cabin with is for the summer."

A loud torturous groan could be heard from all the way down the hall.

"Hey. Harry. Wake up, will you? Mum wants to talk to us." Said John as loud as he possibly could, without seeming suspicious to Mum. Harry had gotten a hangover last night at the party she went to and when she came home, John had to take care of her. Again.

As he watched Harriet moan and snap at him that he could tell mum this and that and that she was NOT going to get up any time soon.

"Its about vacation. She said she was going to ask if we wanted to bring anyone along." He said, casually walking away.

From the noises behind him he could tell she had bolted upright and then regretted it, since it probably gave her a headache.

"Why don't you ask her if you can bring Clara?" John teased, winning a murderous glance from his sister.

He walked to the kitchen where his Mum was waiting for them. Harry came soon after.

"So! Have you two decided who you want to take with us?" She asked from the sink. John thought he saw a look of dissapointment when she looked at Harry. But it probably wasn't. Right?

"Um. Yeah. Can I bring Greg?" John asked. His mother looked at him a certain way that said she wasn't sure to think. "Please? He's been at college and hasn't had any fun all summer! I know that when I go to college this term Iwant someone to invite me away somewhere!" He pleaded. After an unsure moment, his mother nodded and he smiled. Perfect! Someone to talk to outside of Harry and Mum.

"Ehm. Can. Can I invite Clara?" Said Harriet. Mum gave a knowing look and then replied:

"If you think that is a good choice."

Harry smiled. And John snickered on the inside. Harry and Clara sitting in a tree, k I s s I n g!

((If you don't like it, I can change it. And I know I put John the same age as Sherlock, but that's just how my brain works. I think John has been through so much more than Sherlock so he has acquired a tired old look.))

    (It's lovely no worries ^.^ )

Greg hung up the phone a short time later with his friend John Watson. Even though there is an age difference they have been friends for a while and stayed in touch when he went off to Uni. Greg was taking criminal studies. He wanted to be a detective. Ever since he started watching the shows with his mother as a kid he decided he wanted to do her proud and become one. It was with a burning passion for justice for the wrong doings in his life that fuels him on.

John was the closest thing he had to a family. He'd pretty much been on his own since his mother had been taken from this world. He lived with his aunt when school wasn't in session but she wasn't there most of the time so he was practically alone. He had already packed his things and took A cab to John's after letting his aunt know where he was going. Finally an escape from all the work. He'd planned on having so much fun to make up for all the years that have passed.

    XoXoXoXo

Sherlock was quiet through out the entire drive to the Cabin. It was his mother, Ms. & Mr. Hudson and of course himself in the car. Mycroft was supposed to be meeting them there soon. He'd managed to take time away to come spend time with them. It was going to be such a drag.

"Looks like were going to have neighbors this year" Mr.Hudson said as they saw a car in the neighboring cabin. Sherlock perked up. "Don't even think about it Sherlock. Im not going to have you raining on their vacation" Mrs.Holmes scolded.

Mycroft was out front to greet them when they pulled into the drive.

    XoXoXo

"Woah John. This place is awesome" Greg said as they explored. He looked out one of the windows and pointed to the neighboring cabin. It was bigger than theirs and also had a private pool and hottub. "Bet we can sneak in there at night" Greg said with a grin. He was an adventure seeker after all.

"No Greg. I'm not sneaking over to someone else's cabin just to swim, ok? It's not right. We would be trespassing!" Replied John, frowning at his friend.

He went to the room Greg and he were to share and set his things where he wanted them. (He even put his Teddy named Radar under his pillow, hoping no one would find it.)

He walked back to the main part of the cabin and sat down with a book to read for a while in quiet.

    -----------

Mycroft smiled a curt but polite smile at his brother and then turned to his mother with a warm grin.

"Mother. I trust your drive was not too annoying?" He glanced at Sherlock.

"Oh, it was fine. Sherlock was- strangely- quiet and gracious... I'm sort of worried actually." Replied his mother, glancing ruefully at her younger son.

((Hey, sorry I haven't been good about answering, these last few weeks have been hard and stressful. My replies might be spotty.))

Greg laughed "Party pooper. Wheres your sense of adventure John" he said following the blond to their shared room and hurriedly unpacked following the blond. "Oh god John are you really going to read a book after all the hard work we put into coming up here this summer. Go be a normal kid and go play outside with your friend" His mother scolded him as she and Harriet and Clara helped carry in some groceries they stopped to pick up along the way.

Greg beamed at his mother. "You heard the woman John. A little fresh air wont kill you C'mon Mate!" Greg raced out the door and took a deep breath. It was so fresh and relaxing out here. He saw a car drive past them and pulled into the Cabin next to theirs. Woah they must be loaded.

    XxXxXx

Sherlock rolled his eyes at Mycroft. "Eating sweets again Mycroft? I see the powered sugar on your sleeve, Better be careful your getting chubby" Sherlock jabbed ducking a swat to the back of the head by his mother. "He looks fine Sherly! Remember what I told you" She said and Sherlock scowled, not pouted because Holmes' didn't pout, and turned on his heel to stalk towards the lake. This was going to be a very dull vacation.

"Ouch!" Said John as his mother took his book and swatted him over the he'd with it. "I'm going, I'm going!" He jumped up and dodged the book that was thrown at him as he ran out the door.

The car that drove past was expensive. More money than John's family would ever have in a million years!

"Where do you want to go, Greg?" Inquired John, looking around curiously.

    ----------------

"Oh brother, you're loosing your touch! That 'powdered sugar' is baking flour. I was attempting to do something nice for our dear mother! She does so much, and gets so little in return." He sneered at Sherlock.

He had, in fact, been baking, but it hadn't turned out too well. He had burnt the pastry to a crisp, and the unfortunate corpse now lay in the trash. Hopefully it would not be brought up again, it was quite embarrassing.

Greg had been starring at the well groomed male talking to a woman who appeared to be their mother. He blinked rapidly then turned to look at John. "Oh uh sorry. Um lets go look at the lake." Greg said.

    XxXx

Sherlock rolled his eyes. "Keep telling yourself that Mycroft" He snorted. As if he would EVER loose his touch. He sighed as he finally reached the lakes edge and sat down on the dock that belonged to their family a good sized boat docked there beside him. He sighed as if he were bored out of his mind. Why the hell had he got dragged here. He knew they would be happier if he weren't around to make things worse. Mycroft had been the one who inherited all the charm and class while Sherlock...he just didn't have the patience to put up a front that would get him though life. He would never be 'fake' if it didn't benefit his cause. And lets face it, No one liked a freak.

"Sure! Sounds nice." Replied John, "Lets go. I'll race you!" He set off like a race horse*, with Greg laughing beside him. They arrived at one of the public docks, gasping and giggling histerically. They sat down together.

"So. What now, Greg?" Panted John.

He looked to his left and saw a lanky boy on the dock a couple metres away on a private dock. He looked a bit... lonely... The boy looked back at him. For a moment they just stared at each other. Then John blinked and nodded and the boy turned away.

"Who is that, do you think?" Whispered John to his friend.

    -------------------

Mycroft rolled his eyes with a sigh and led his mother to the cabin.

((Sorry Mycroft, cant think of much for you at the moment. Meh.

Hey, is it ok I did the look thing? Cuz I can erase it.))

    (its fine ^^)

Greg shook his head as they made it to the dock's "You cheated. You got a head start" He said as he laid on his back to catch his breath before he sat up on John's new question and looked at the boy who was looking at the water.

"I dunno. Lets go find out then" Greg said with a grin as he stood up to go meet the boy.

    XxXx

Sherlock heard the boys approaching and tried not to turn and stare. In the end he couldn't resist the temptation and turned. He locked eyes with the blond and he felt something. He wasn't sure and so he turned away.

"He looks kind of.. I don't know, let's just go."

The walked together to the other dock. Johnsmiled at the boy when he turned, but that was before he met his eyes.

THe were a striking blue green with a grey tint that looked so alien and... well, beautiful- John couldn't think of another word for it- that it sent chills down his spine.

He quickly looked away just as the boy did and turned to Greg. He motioned to his eyes and the ponted at the boy. Weird. He signed in sign language, hoping that Greg remembered most of what he had been taught.

He walked up beside the boy and said, "Hi. I'm John. What's your name? This is Greg, and um... I don't know.. You just sort of looked lonely, so we thought we would come over and say hi." John smiled kindly.

((Sorry, headcanon= John knows sign language. His dad was deaf(before he was kiiled in a war) and John knew how to communicate with him...))

    (thats all good =])

Greg nodded and shrugged. 'Never know till we talk to him ey?' he signed back.

Sherlock looked up when the boys approached him and looked between them. "Ah you see but you do not observe John Watson. I am alone yes but not lonely. Lonely is an emotion for one who is weak in mind and that I am not. In fact I know you are both here an a much needed vacation. It almost didn't happen because a set back in your mothers job but she managed to pull through in the end and got rewarded with a bonus able to bring two friends along. One clearly along from Criminal studies and another who fancies your sibling." Sherlock said.

    Greg blinked rapidly.

John's jaw dropped. Maybe he was wrong about coming over to the boy. He seemed the type who liked to be alone. Was protected by the silence of being by one's self.

At first he was suprised at the young man's comment on Greg liking Harry, but soon he was amused. Ha! Harry and Greg? Priceless

"How do you know so much? We just got here!" He waited for a moment for the slender boy's answer then mumbled: "Everyone has emotions. You can think of yourself as cold, not capable of suprise, of doubt... but it will always be there. Think on that.

Now. What's your name? I've told you ours."

Greg blanched at that. It had been one measly crush and it was a long time ago!

Sherlock blinked at the blond boy. Interesting...very interesting indeed. He lent back on his hands and looked the both of them over. Usually people would have gotten mad and stomped off.

"Nice to meet you." John felt like a specimen under a microscope; the way Sherlock was staring at him, analyzing him, was disconcerting.

He shifted uncomfortably, wishing this Sherlock boy would stop staring.

"So um. You come here often?"

    (welcome back :3)

Sherlock arched a brow. "Is it?" He asked with another tilt of his head. No one ever said that to him except if they were forced to.

"Not really, no. I'm not to fond of family vacations. Boring. My Mother owns the cabin up there. Insisted that we all get together to have a bit of a holiday. My brother isn't around much anymore so insisted that we spend time together. He's the bloody government." Sherlock said.

Greg looked to John then the other male. "Then why are you alone?"

Sherlock looked to the other male with a bored expression. "Obvious isn't it? We don't get on very well."

"Oh. Your mom?...... oh. So you guys own that cabin?" He looked at Greg, thinking how possibly expensive a cabin like that would be.

"The government? No one person can be the /entire/ government."

"Greg, seriously?! Have you not seen how Harry and I get on? /Not well!/ Most siblings don't."

Sherlock smirked lightly. "Then you've not met my brother. He his his fingers dipped in each department. Always was a greedy sod." Sherlock said.

Greg just shook his head. He couldn't say anything about family. His was all gone.

"Sherlock!" A voice called out making him cringe. Great now he was in for it.

Mrs. Holmes walked towards the small group a smile plastered on her face. "Sherlock there you are. Why have you been hiding here. And who are your friends?" She asked politely.

"They are just some guys I met. John and Greg. They naively thought I was lonely" Sherlock said dusting off his trousers.

His mothers smile never flickered but you could feel her demeanor change. "Oh well then why don't you boys come up for a cuppa! I'm sure the boys would love your company" She said

"Erm....Sure" Greg said feeling she wouldn't take no for an answer. He had a feeling the Holmes' always got their way.
